There seems to be a large number of avalanches this year, or maybe it’s just that I’m more focused on them this year than previously.

I’ve been fortunate enough never to have seen a real avalanche, let alone be close to one, but there are some things we should all know in order to avoid starting them or to survive if we’re caught in one.
